Listen to a short clip of the barking sound Download Manual for DM10 Motion Sensor FAQ Q. Can the DK10 be plugged into a timer, so it only barks, with motion, at certain times of the day? A. No. Not via motion as the DK10 needs to be manually "armed" first. However it will bark if trigged by X10 PLC. Therefore if you add an X10 TM13U transceiver, this will receive signals from the motion sensor, and send X10 PLC signals to the DK10, which would make the DK10 bark for 30 seconds Q. The DK10 barks for 4 minutes and not 30 seconds as advertised in the manual A. Please see the amendment manual (A4 pages) supplied with the DK10 which advises the changes made to the DK10's firmware, which includes a lot of additional features. One of the changes is the barking period when the DK10 is triggered by X10 RF (from the motion sensor) from 30 seconds, to 4 minutes Q. The barking isn't loud enough A. The DK10's bark is so loud it is too loud - so you must have installed the DK10 a long distance from the doorway, with closed doors inbetween. In a real life situation a real dog may be locked into a particular part of the house, and so this distance may be "real", but we suggest that a real guard dog would be given free run of the house, so the DK10 should be installed close-by a doorway, so that it's bark will be more than loud enough. If you wish to cover the front and rear of the house, then you may possibly need to use 2 DK10 kits, with each set to only respond to their own motion sensor Q. Can a hardwired alarm sensor be used with the DK10? A. Yes. You will also need a SM10 X10 module. The existing sensor should be powered. It's alarm contacts should then be wired to the SM10. The SM10 should be set to Mode 2 on the slide switch. When the sensor trips, it will close its contact which will signal the SM10. The SM10 will then send an X10 signal along the mains wiring to the DK10, which will start barking and continue barking for 30 seconds. If the alarm trips again, it will start barking again for another 30 seconds, and so on Q. Can two DK10's be used in the same house? A. Yes. You can have them set up in two ways: Separate alarm, or one signalling the other. To have them separate simply set one of the DK10s and it's sensor to a different House Code to the other DK10/Sensor. To have them signal each other, you merely leave them set as they are - with the same House Code. When the sensor triggers one DK10 it will start barking, then about 5 seconds later it will send a signal along the mains wiring to the other DK10 which will then start barking as well. The DK10 signalled by the sensor will bark for about 4 minutes. The other DK10 will bark for about 30 seconds Q. If I just have the DK10 and I want to stop it barking, can I simply press this disarm button after it has started barking? A. No. Unfortunately not. If the DK10 has started barking then the disarm button will have no affect. You will need to either unplug the DK10 or use an optional KR22 keyfob to stop it barking Customer Comments about this product
