Now you can have the protection of a dog without the maintenance! These units
will bark at your command to deter would be intruders.
Included with the unit is the DM10 External X10 RF Motion Detector. Install
this outside your house, and when the unit sees motion it will send an X10
RF transmission to the DK10 and the DK10 will start barking.
Alternatively you can purchase a
KR22 key chain remote
control. Simply press a button on the KR22 and the DK10 will start barking.
The random barking sounds amazingly realistic, especially when heard
through a door.
Since the DK10 is both wireless RF as well as mains X10 you can use any
X10 transmitter to make the DK10 start barking. Barking volume is adjustable
The DK10 will also act as a X10 RF to X10 PLC Gateway. So any X10 RF
transmissions are added onto the mains as X10 PLC commands
For total peace of mind, you can also install batteries inside the DK10 so
that will continue to guard your premises in the event of a mains power
failure (note battery power will only allow operation with the DM10 which
is already battery powered). Additionally if the unit is to be installed
where there is no mains power, then it can be run totally on battery. The
DK10 requires 9 C type batteries, and the DM10 requires 4 x AA batteries
The DM10 also monitors day light and darkness, and will send an X10 RF
command on it's own address + 1 (so if it is set as A1, it would send
dawn = Off and dusk = On commands on A2) so suitably installed X10 receivers
could control outside lights, etc
Additional DM10 sensors may be purchased to cover additional areas of your
property

FAQ
Q. Can the DK10 be plugged into a timer, so it only barks, with motion, at
certain times of the day?
A. No. Not via motion as the DK10 needs to be manually "armed" first. However
it will bark if trigged by X10 PLC. Therefore if you add an X10 TM13U
transceiver, this will receive signals from the motion sensor, and send
X10 PLC signals to the DK10, which would make the DK10 bark for 30 seconds
Q. The DK10 barks for 4 minutes and not 30 seconds as advertised in the
manual
A. Please see the amendment manual (A4 pages) supplied with the DK10 which
advises the changes made to the DK10's firmware, which includes a lot of
additional features. One of the changes is the barking period when the
DK10 is triggered by X10 RF (from the motion sensor) from 30 seconds,
to 4 minutes
Q. The barking isn't loud enough
A. The DK10's bark is so loud it is too loud - so you must have installed the
DK10 a long distance from the doorway, with closed doors inbetween. In a real
life situation a real dog may be locked into a particular part of the house,
and so this distance may be "real", but we suggest that a real guard dog would
be given free run of the house, so the DK10 should be installed close-by a
doorway, so that it's bark will be more than loud enough. If you wish to
cover the front and rear of the house, then you may possibly need to use
2 DK10 kits, with each set to only respond to their own motion sensor
Customer Comments about this product
Score:
A good product - works well and sounds realistic. A useful deterrent, and easy to install.

Score:
I found that the product is quite realistic in sound. However the instructions are not too clear as they do not make it clear as to the positioning of the sensor relative to the Barking Dog, also I was not able to reach customer services for advice,e-mail
(David. Stalbridge)
Score:
Already had one so knew I would be happy with it. good when used "as is", great when controlled with the CM15
(Steve)
Score:
The sensor seems not to work through a brick (external wall...is this normal?) Dog barks OK when test button pushed sensor close to "dog".Please help.
(Brian. Windsor)
Score:
Your product works well although the speaker volume is too low and makes it necessary to place the speaker in front of a ventilation window or venthole to be heard outside and have the proper deterrent effect. Your manual is poor: An A1-ON or A1-OFF butto
